PBI's academic history
The history of PBI Research Institute begins in 1993, when Kim Wikström and his colleagues at Åbo Akademi initiated several research programs together with companies in industrial project business. These research projects and others that were started in the 1990s pertained to high-level information, which involved the participation of professionals in management positions and researchers of management, technology, and humanistic sciences. At the end of the 1990s PBI began a cooperation with Stockholm's Royal School of Technology.
The Foundation for Project Research was established in 2001 in order to ensure the continuity of research. The purpose was to offer a multidisciplinary home for all programs in the basic and applied research of PBI Research Institute.
